Velan Center, a non-profit organization for the promotion of contemporary art active since 1993, is an exhibition space open to experimentation, developed in collaboration with Regione Piemonte. The first exhibition, Art is life project, with works of 148 Italian and international artists, was inaugurated in the wide spaces of the former woolen mill Bona Carignano, fascinating architectural testimony of industrial archeology of the twentieth century. In January 2000, after 7 years of activity in Carignano, Velan Center moved to Turin in Via Modena 52, in the popular district Rossini, presenting a solo show of artist Dennis Adams (USA, 1948). In 2009, after 9 years in via Modena, Velan Center moved to its current location in via Saluzzo 64, in the dynamic area of ​​San Salvario. Velan Center, in almost twenty years, has organized several exhibitions covering the most diverse expressions of contemporary research, alternating names of Italian and international artists of all generations. Particular attention was given to young artists of the area, thanks to the historic format Versus, whose first edition, curated by Marco Meneguzzo, dates back to 1995.

Since 1993 Velan hosted over 100 shows and 600 artists and produced over 50 catalogs. Among featured artists: Dennis Adams, Pep Agut, Thierry Alet, Maja Bajevic, Davide Bertocchi, Maurizio Cattelan, Loris Cecchini, Mat Collishaw, Cuoghi Corsello, Jan Fabre, Crispin Gurholt, Swetlana Heger, Ingar Krauss, Annika Larsson, Les Levine, Noriaki Maeda, Miltos Manetas, Matthew McCaslin, Mongrel, Zwelhethu Mthethwa, Antoni Muntadas, Dennis Oppenheim, Mark Riedermann, Bernardi Roig, Sabrina Torelli, John Tremblay, Vedovamazzei.
