CUOGHI CORSELLO - Mobile Credenza (2008)

Tuesday, 4th November 2008, the solo exhibition by Cuoghi Corsello, Mobile Credenza, will be opened at Velan, via Modena 52, Turin. Monica CUOGHI (Sermide, MN, 1965) and Claudio CORSELLO (Bologna, 1964) represent the prototype of the creative couple. A unique artistic fellowship to be traced back in Bologna after the year 1977 and full of profound underground culture. Artistically they both come from the graffiti experience, and in the last years of the Eighties they created images and figures on the walls of the Emilia Romagna region administrative centre. From 1994 to 2005 the artists took posses of some industrial factories where the artist’s work itself still represents a sort of new life for those abandoned places. They brought new vitality to them and they filled them with new energy and invented figures. Their works live and die within the walls of these industrial hangars and go through a real existential route. At first exclusive heritage of friends and supporters, later on followed more and more by a larger and larger group of estimators and fans. The works in the exhibition range from sculpture, such as the work ‘XXX’ dated 1999, the exact reproduction of three S. Andrea wooden crosses which the artists kept in their home in the first occupied factory called ‘Il Giardino dei Bucintori’, to painting, like the work ‘Flat Eric e le leggi’, a spray reproduction on canvas of a low resolution cellular phone photo. The artists are back again to Velan centre in Carignano TO, the first time was 1999, they come back to Turin after many exhibitions in private and public spaces all around Italy and after group exhibitions in Istanbul and Beijing.

Claudio Corsello and Monica Cuoghi, forerunners of the Italian street art, met for the first time at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Bologna in 1986 and two years later they organized with Aldo Grazzi, in the historical space of Neon, La regina degli U.F.O, which they still consider a significant and innovative exhibition. They started to work as Cuoghi Corsello since 1989, with many incursions and experimentations in many art fields: from graffiti to music, from video to light and electro-mechanics. From 1994 to 2006 they occupied industrial spaces and former abandoned factories in the Bologna area, working with painting, sculpture, installations. We thank for their contribution: Piedmont Region, RAS Insurances, Pinerolo. With the cooperation of TAG – Torino Art Galleries. The exhibition will remain open from November 4th to December 12th 2008  in the following opening hours: from Tuesday to Friday from 04.00 PM to 07.00 PM.
