Tuesday 10^th April 2008 Velan inaugurates Calpestare (Step on), solo exhibition by Pietro FINELLI (Montesarchio, BN, 1957) curated by Alan Jones. The rigorous work behind Finelli’s images resists both the narrative threat which ends up to transform the time of works in crystallized things, and the unlimited proliferation where, in the end, all tends to destroy the difference between what we call art and the world of simple things. – I thought about the title of the exhibition while I was going out from the door of a metro. It was something like a little illumination, due to an unconscious gesture (I was entangled in some newspapers abandoned on the floor of the train). I freed myself from the papers by stepping on them in order to get out without obstruction. This verb, to step on, reminded me the stepping on foot on the ground, or the steps on the city streets,  stepping on to move to the discovery of new places, new stories, new mental statuses -  Pietro Finelli is artist and curator. He lives and works in Milan. We thank Region Piedmont for the contribution.
